About Us

I grew up in a blue collar neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago and receiving the Chick Evan’s Caddie Scholarship to the University of Illinois was the opportunity needed to eventually attend DePaul College of Law.

Being a son, and a grandson of Chicago Police Officers made the choice of becoming a criminal defense lawyer a natural one. While going to law school at night I worked fulltime at the Cook County State’s Attorneys Office Narcotics Division as a member of the legal support staff. The relationships with prosecutors and judges developed during those years, along with the experience gained at that position, is the foundation for my unmatched success in defending narcotics cases today.

In 1998 I opened the Law Offices of Michael F. Clancy initially concentrating in defending murder, weapon, and narcotic cases all over the State of Illinois. Over the last decade we have moved predominately into Federal Courts handling all Federal cases including narcotics, fraud, tax, and forfeiture. Our office has handled cases across the country including Florida, Arizona, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Texas, Indiana, and even internationally involving Costa Rica, Mexico, Denmark, and Jordan. Through the years we have also been successful in Civil litigation, Injury, Medical Malpractice, and Workers Compensation cases.

The result of these years of hard work and hundreds of trials is a full service law firm that is concentrated in all Criminal Cases in both Federal and State Court. I am primarily a trial lawyer who would rather go to trial than negotiate a quick plea. However, I am mindful that negotiations sometimes bring the best results.
